Coping with Christmas whilst trying to navigate a fertility journey can feel so tricky. It is never too early or too late to think about how you want to approach Christmas. I want to provide you with some tools and support to get you through it, not only in one piece but hopefully with some joy and relaxation too.
For a whole bunch of ideas to help you Cope with Christmas, read my Ribbon Box article here. If you prefer to listen, you will find the link to an interview too.
Over here at The Fertility Psychologist, to help you cope with Christmas and prepare for the holidays, we have focused on being ‘Mindful(L) of Fertility’. In the Facebook group you will find recordings of our Reflect & Connect sessions as well as the mindfulness practices, delivered live over a week. Developing your mindfulness skills will help you to pay attention to what really matters to you, cut out some of the festive noise and manage your mood and anxiety. Just head to the featured tab in the Facebook group to watch on demand.
Build Your Toolkit
Have you ever spent time planning your Christmas shopping, Christmas visits or Christmas dinner? Trying to make sure that people get what they will like and not have to sit next to the person they always argue with. I bet you have, but how many of you take time to plan what you need, what would make you feel better, what would make Christmas feel special for you?
I really encourage you to stop and think about what YOU want, what would feel like an investment in your SELF? If you are struggling this Christmas then ask yourself what would help, what eases the tension, what are your non-negotiables, the things that are essential to your well-being?
If you are struggling to answer this then download my Essential Fertility Toolkit. It is full of tools and tips to help you manage your mood and well-being as you navigate your fertility journey.
Whatever the holiday season brings you, I hope you can find some light. Some good food, good company and peace. If you need a gift idea, I am recommending a book called Wintering by Katherine May. It might just help you slow down, rest and recover.
Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2025 and beyond.
